The President Writes
Welcome to our new look website !
What an extraordinary year CSF has had. As I said in my report at the AGM, ‘Like Topsy it just growed, and then growed some more!!’ and it is still growing. The website revision and make-over is a reflection of that growth. We hope the site is more user-friendly and even more helpful to you and your family.
I would like to thank Nora, our original web site builder for all that she has done for the Association. Her work has been a labour of love, and we are very grateful to her for it. She now hands the baton on to Ralph, a member of our Deux-Sèvres branch. His fresh eye and experience have really helped us develop this important source of help in line with our growth.
This is intended to be your site – a place where you feel comfortable and assured of friendly support at what ever level you need it. We hope you will be actively involved in its development, so wherever you live in France please let us know if there is information you need, or have found useful. This will help us improve the resources we offer. Our aim, as always, is to support you, your family and closest friends as you come to terms with your diagnosis and treatment programmes. It is our hope that with suitable support in place you will find your experiences less daunting in your adopted country.

New Faces
I am delighted to introduce you to a number of key new faces. They feature in our ‘Meet some of the Team’ section. Joan Ross has become our Office Manager, so when you ring the help line on Tuesdays, it is probable that it will be Joan who will take your call. Frances Wilkinson takes on the role of co-ordinating resources. This will include cataloguing our growing library as well as developing key resource links on this site. Simone Perryman, one of our Active Listeners in the Charente, takes over from Anne Lee as Secretary. We thank Anne for her help and support during the last year. Paul Martin has been elected to the post of Vice- President, and he will be responsible for helping new local groups start up. He also holds the social and fundraising brief, and until such time as a volunteer is found, the publicity co-ordinator role. Finally Mike Druce joins us as Assistant Treasurer, providing much needed support and back-up for Andy. What will I be doing you may ask? I will be able to focus more effectively on developing our links within the French medical world. The first stage of this is already under way, as we continue to be involved with the ‘Reseau Onco-Poitou Charente’ in Poitiers. Contacts have also been established with La Ligue Contre le Cancer, Symphonie 17 and of course Amoena. News about all these contacts will appear from time to time assuming my great new team remind me that it is time to produce the next letter!

CSF Centre
The centre in Benest (16) is becoming a great place to be! There is lots of laughter, tea and coffee and plenty of support from a dedicated team of volunteers. There is space for people to meet and chat, and in the long term the possibility exists for small groups of people sharing the same type of cancer to come together and support each other. We look forward to meeting you if you are in the area and able to drop in for a while.
With every good wish,
Linda.
